WatchGuard is launching two new solutions at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, to help organisations to better manage their security in a more effective manner. The latest version of the company’s Extensible Threat Management (XTM) solution, Fireware XTM 11.8, has been expanded to add data loss prevention (DLP), along with existing features including AV, intrusion prevention and URL filtering.

Corey Nachreiner, Director of Security Strategy, WatchGuard, says that the company sees a strong demand for a solution to make data loss prevention easier to manage and to reduce costs.

“We have recently done a survey and data loss is a big concern for most businesses. We find that 37% of data loss is due to accidental leaks, people making mistakes, and 32% is external hackers. In 11.8, we have released a very easy to use DLP solution, and we are focusing on ease of use,” he says. “We are going to put all our engineering into making sure our interfaces are easy to use, the most understandable for people to be able to get the most out of their security.”

WatchGuard’s research also shows that 65% of companies do not have data loss prevention solutions in place, despite the potential financial penalties for losing sensitive data.

The company takes a best of breed approach to UTM, partnering with technology leaders such as Kaspersky, AVG, Trend Micro, and WebSense, and the new DLP is no exception, deploying technology from Sophos.

The DLP includes a range of over 200 pre-configured rules, with region-and industry-specific settings which make it easier for IT professionals to set up the solution according to their requirements.

WatchGuard’s second major release for the show is its cloud- ready visibility tool, WatchGuard Dimension, which provides a suite of big data visibility and reporting tools that instantly isolate and distill key security issues and trends.
