Jordan’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE), in partnership with the World Bank Group, will hold a webinar on November 17, entitled, “Jordan’s Qualified IT Talents”. The virtual seminar aims to help MoDEE promote the country’s ICT competitiveness.

Local and international attendees

MoDEE will promote ICT competitiveness through the online event that will be attended by H.R.H. the Crown Prince, H.E. Ahmad Hanandeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ferid Belhaj, World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, and representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan), the Information and Communication Technology Association of Jordan (int@j), and a series of high-profile local and international companies along with venture capital investors. The webinar will include a special presentation from Amazon, as well as a panel discussion featuring a number of Jordan’s leading business process outsourcing (BPO) and information technology outsourcing (ITO) companies: Aspire, Webhelp, Estarta Solutions, and Crystel. The efforts to boost competitiveness are a continuation of the country’s continued digital transformation.

Jordan Source

The webinar will also provide virtual attendees with a first look at Jordan Source, a new initiative led by MoDEE, with the aim of promoting regional and international investments in Jordan’s BPO and ITO industries by facilitating and streamlining the investor journey. In recent years, the Kingdom’s ICT sector has proven its strength and resilience, witnessing impressive growth even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic: during last year’s lockdown alone, hundreds of new jobs were created in the BPO/ITO industry. Jordan has become a popular destination for multinational ICT companies like Amazon, Expedia, and Cisco Systems. Ultimately, Jordan Source will work to further capitalise on these strengths, offering companies a wealth of wide-reaching support as they establish and scale up operations in the country.

Jordan Source falls under the umbrella of MoDEE’s Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project, which was launched in 2019 with the support of the World Bank Group, with the goal of expanding government e-services and increasing job opportunities in the digital economy.
