Western Union is enhancing its digital services by working with the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) in association with Amman Exchange to integrate Kuwait Mobile ID within westernunion.com and the Western Union Mobile App.

Western Union is the first money transfer operator in the country to integrate Kuwait Mobile ID capabilities into its digital solutions, accelerating its tech-focused growth strategy to ensure customers have access to reliable and convenient payment services.

Online verification

With this new integration, Western Union consumers in Kuwait can undertake a seamless registration and online verification process and use the company’s digital service offerings. With WU.com and the Western Union mobile app customers can send up to KWD 750 from Kuwait directly bank accounts, including wallets and cards, across more than 125 countries and territories, with real-time capabilities in 100 of these countries. Additionally, it also offers cash payouts in approximately 600,000 retail locations in over 200 countries and territories.

Kuwait Mobile ID is a mobile-based Digital ID derived from the Kuwaiti Civil ID with capabilities including identity verification, authentication to online e-services and applying trusted digital signature to documents and transaction.

An evolving market

On enhancing its digital services, Western Union’s Head of Digital, Middle East and Africa, Salma Massoud said, “For 170 years, Western Union has put technology to work connecting people—bringing boundless possibilities within reach. We launched our digital services in Kuwait in 2017 with Aman Exchange and are excited to continue to build on our capabilities with Kuwait Mobile ID, making our customers’ lives easier, with simple online registration and verification.”

The latest move comes as part of Western Union’s efforts to expand digitisation across the region.
