Regional confidence

According to Said Hamoud Al Maawali, Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the choice of Muscat as the Arab Digital Capital reflects the Arab countries’ confidence in the digital and legal capabilities of Oman. Their position was underlined by the Council’s endorsement of Oman’s National Digital Economy Programme, according to Al Maawali.

The yearly selection of the Digital Capital is intended to foster successful digital initiatives and models.

Oman’s digital environment is expanding rapidly thanks to projects involving the blockchain, the provision of technology training and e-commerce platforms by local and international companies.
