Cybersecurity has gained importance for many organisations as they navigate the constantly evolving business landscape driven by accelerated digitalisation.

Last year, overall cybercriminal activities cost global businesses a total of $6 trillion, according to a recent study. The massive financial implications of cyber threats highlight the need for security leaders and teams to adopt new strategies to keep threat actors at bay. Additionally, this calls on the C-suite to broaden its understanding of the risks and establish cybersecurity as the foundation for almost every aspect of the business.

Encouragingly, many organisations appear to be heeding the message to prioritise cybersecurity with Gartner predicting increased spending on information security and risk management, which it expects to reach a total of $172 billion in 2022.

However, the reality is that few organisations, if any, have the resources and the technical know-how to deploy and manage a robust security strategy. To address this gap, more and more organisations are turning to Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs).

Among the key players in this space is CyberRes, a Micro Focus line of business, which aims to help solve the key challenges faced by CISOs today.

“Threats against organisations including those in the Middle East have increased since the beginning of the global pandemic. It is a challenge for businesses to mitigate the risks, especially against the insider threats considering that employees connecting to the company’s systems, on-premise or on the cloud, through various locations outside the corporate office network,” said Ibrahim H. Azab, Regional Sales Director – MEA, CyberRes.

“Additionally, possible business interruptions are affecting the companies much more than pre-pandemic conditions. Companies need to consider increasing their cyber resiliency to be prepared for future challenges, which may not necessarily another pandemic but for conditions that can affect the way they execute their business.”

As the business landscape becomes more interconnected, organisations need to be able to ensure growth while being wary of potential cyber incidents. The first step toward achieving cyber resilience is aligning security teams with the organisation’s business objectives.

“CyberRes helps customers answer the essential question in today’s digital world: Are we cyber-resilient?,” said Azab.

“We do this by providing enterprise cybersecurity and technology leaders with trusted, intelligent solutions. We give them insight, protection, compliance and adaptability through a suite of industry-leading technologies built by security and data science experts.”

CyberRes’ innovations are built with three key pillars – protect, detect and evolve – in mind, according to Azab.

The first pillar, ‘protect’, means CyberRes focuses on enabling organisations to close gaps in their security posture to keep their data safe. “We provide identity governance, advanced authentication, vulnerability detection in applications and persistent data protection,” he said.

Meanwhile, ‘detect’, is centred on providing organisations with the capabilities to stay one step ahead of threats and risks. “We help our customers make smart decisions about their security posture through our intelligent, analytics-driven solutions, which can help accelerate threat detection and response,” explained Azab.

Last, but not least, ‘evolve’, is all about enabling organisations to stay ahead of threats and transform their security posture with the use of emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning.

“Additionally, CyberRes brings the expertise of one of the world’s largest security portfolios to help our customers navigate the changing threat landscape by building both cyber and business resiliency within their teams and organisations. CyberRes is part of a larger set of digital transformation solutions that fight adverse conditions so businesses can continue to run today, keep the lights on, and transform to grow and take advantage of tomorrow’s opportunities,” said Azab.

In line with CyberRes’ commitment to empowering organisations in the region to stay cyber-resilient, the company participated at the recently held LEAP conference in Saudi Arabia.

Over the years, Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in its digital transformation and in innovations that can help mitigate the emerging cyber threats that come with it. In fact, it ranked second in the world among countries committed to cybersecurity, according to the Global Competitiveness Index.

At LEAP, CyberRes showcased its latest innovations aimed at arming regional businesses against threat actors.

The company demonstrated its offerings across more than a dozen strategic areas including the multi-domain join-kill chain, a sophisticated dynamic “join” capability that uses static persistors for kill chain and can dynamically change the persistors based on the conditions of the kill chain.

CyberRes also featured its innovations for dynamic attack surface analysis. “Our technology tags assets with all (passive) and active context assessments about zones and assets. Then using the built-in threat analysis engine, it matches the relevance and confidence of threats against the attack surface of the asset,” explained Azab.

The company also showcased its threat detection solutions. “Our software conducts anomaly detection based on dynamically learned fields and pivot points. ArcSight’s Moving Average data monitor can use dynamic windowing of elements to detect variances by individual element using single-configured elements,” he said.

Azab added, “LEAP 2022 demonstrated Saudi Arabia’s vision in terms of enhancing its leadership in the region and the world as a digital hub. As Micro Focus CyberRes, we are proud to have been part of this platform that will help the kingdom achieve its targets to transform into an innovation-based economy.”

Looking ahead, Azab reiterated CyberRes’ three key pillars for cybersecurity innovations and emphasised the need for organisations to evolve to stay ahead of cyber threats. “Businesses need to protect themselves with best-in-class innovations, make sure they’re able to detect changing or new risk surfaces and keep evolving competencies in line with these changes. They need to make cyber resilience an integral part of the entire enterprise’s lifecycle.”
