Apple reiterates commitment to sustainability with new ‘green’ iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro

Last year, Apple introduced its iPhone 13 line-up, which it said has minimal impact on the environment

Apple has introduced two new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 in alpine green and green colours respectively.

The new devices are equipped with the iPhone 13’s features and design. They are also powered by Apple’s proprietary A15 Bionic chip and 5G capabilities.

The new alpine green iPhone 13 Pro and green iPhone 13 will be available for pre-order this Friday, 11th March, with availability starting Friday, 18th March.

“People love the design of iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13, and we’re excited to unveil the stunning new alpine green and green finishes, which join the wide range of beautiful colours on the iPhone 13 lineup,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

“These new colours give customers even more options when choosing their iPhone, and we can’t wait for them to take advantage of all the iPhone 13 lineup offers, including an unmatched performance with A15 Bionic, our best camera systems, massive improvements to battery life for everyday needs, fast 5G, incredible durability, and so much more.”

iPhone 13 Pro in alpine green and iPhone 13 in green ship with iOS 15.4, which offers the ability to use Face ID while wearing a mask, a new Siri voice option, expanded language support for Visual Lookup, new emoji, and much more.

The iOS 15 also brings enhancements to FaceTime, Apple Maps, Wallet and more.

Last year, Apple introduced its iPhone 13 line-up, which it said has minimal impact on the environment. The devices have been designed using 100 percent recycled rare earth elements including the magnets used for its MagSafe feature.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini also include antenna lines that utilise upcycled plastic water bottles that have been chemically transformed into a stronger, high-performance material — an industry first.

Additionally, the redesigned packaging for the iPhone 13 lineup eliminates the outer plastic wrap, avoiding 600 metric tons of plastic and bringing Apple closer to its goal of completely removing plastic from all packaging by 2025, according to Apple.

In 2020, Apple announced its plan to become carbon neutral across its entire business, manufacturing supply chain, and product life cycle by 2030.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are currently available in sierra blue, graphite, gold, and silver, and will be available in the new alpine green in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, starting at AED 4,199 and AED 4,699 respectively.
