The Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, during his participation in the meeting of digital economy ministers under Indonesia’s presidency of the G20 in Bali, noted that as part of Saudi’s plan to be a regional tech hub, it seeks to train more than 600 women in the Middle East and North Africa, as part of its cooperation with Apple Developer Academy.

The Academy participants learn the fundamentals of coding and core professional competencies, design, and marketing, ensuring graduates have the full suite of skills needed to contribute to the local business communities.

So far 1,500 apps were created by developer academy graduates globally, 160 new companies were founded by Developer Academy graduates, while 51 nationalities were represented among Developer Academy graduates.

The Minister also noted that KSA government has been supporting sectors of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship which is pioneering the status of the Kingdom. He added, the qualitative growth in the bold capital investments last year increased by 270%, exceeding what has been achieved in 2020 and 2019 combined.

As for women’s participation, Al-Swaha pointed out that the Saudi Vision 2030 is keen on supporting the Saudi woman as one of the important elements for the development of the homeland, indicating that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has improved in the women empowerment field from 7% in 2017 to over 30% in 2022.
