UAE du telecom embarks on new digital transformation program

du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company (EITC), is embarking on a new digital transformation program to enhance customer experience and maximise its business and operational capabilities.

The program will be implemented in collaboration with Netcracker, Accenture, HPE, Arimac, Tata Consulting Services, Tech Mahindra and ATOS.  

The programme is an initial step in one of the important transformations at du and a significant milestone of the organisation’s transformation journey in line with its aim to become a leading digital Telco in the region and contribute to the UAE leadership’s transformation agenda.

The digital transformation programme will use next-gen technologies to improve customer, product and channel experience. As customers expect higher service levels and better propositions, the program is designed to address service interruptions and technical failures. This program will also benefit the launch of new services that utilise new technologies, facilitate a world-class experience, improve reliability and empower stable systems and resilient platforms. du intends to move its customer base onto a modern and stable platform that can deliver these enhanced functionalities and experiences.

In a recent interview Salim AlBlushi, Chief technology officer at du, stated that the operator is working to explained to build the digital twin of its data centers and infrastructure to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve quality. As he stated, “The metaverse is inevitable. As a direct result of this, using the Internet will result in higher levels of emotional connectedness. We see the Metaverse as a game changer in the next phase, and the anticipation of this will drive network bandwidth up.”

The digital twins will be able to simulate a variety of scenarios which, in turn, can be replicated in the company’s actual physical operations.
