4 metaverse projects launched at GITEX Global

Leading UAE organisations demonstrate their metaverse strategies during the five-day annual event

Metaverse dominated the world’s largest tech and start-up event, GITEX Global, which saw leading UAE organisations demonstrate their metaverse strategies.

This year’s edition of the tech trade show featured XVERSE, which is inspired by the Dubai Government’s vision and roadmap to become one of top 10 cities globally in the Metaverse Economy. Here are some of UAE organisations that debuted their metaverse projects at GITEX Global.

e&: e& universe

UAE e& and HTC VIVE develop a metaverse to elevate customer experiences

e&, formerly known as Etisalat Group, becomes the next UAE company to embrace the metaverse, with the soft launch of e& universe at this week’s GITEX Global 2022.

Earlier this week, the company signed a partnership with HTC VIVE to develop the its metaverse solutions using the VIVERSE technology.

e& universe will virtually welcome visitors, empowering them to traverse the virtual and physical worlds, profoundly changing the way they interact.

During its debut at GITEX 2022, e& universe will feature two demonstrations. Firstly, e& universe will allow visitors at the event and people at home to explore the exhibition virtually, at the same time log in from a wide range of devices including VR, PCs and smartphones via a browser. 3D models of the venue are built in e& universe for people to enjoy and interact virtually through their screens.

DAFZ: METADAFZ

Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZ), part of Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), launched METADAFZ at GITEX Global.

The project aims to provide the free zone’s clients with a smooth digital experience in the metaverse.

According to the organisation, METADAFZ will enable clients from across the globe to conduct meetings via a virtual platform, offering a unique and semi-realistic experience regardless of the physical location.

The initiative offers an alternative to the traditional way of conducting business activities, and empowers company representatives to discuss future work prospects, as well as how to launch businesses and projects in Dubai.

DEWA: DEWAVerse

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) recently launched the ‘DEWAVerse’ platform on the metaverse to provide its services to customers, employees and members of society.

DEWA invests in metaverse technology to implement and develop its current and future projects, which contributes towards stakeholder happiness, the development of business, enhancing efficiency and production, and reducing costs.

The DEWAVerse platform has six key features including:

  • Customer Service Centre, which enables customers to communicate with the Customer Care Centre agents to answer their inquiries and complete transactions through the DEWAVerse platform.
  • DEWA Workplace, which enables users to move around DEWA buildings and hold meetings.
  • DEWA Future Lab, which enables users to hold brainstorming sessions, discuss challenges and develop the best solutions using innovation tools in the virtual world
  • First Aid and Fire Safety, which introduces first aid and fire safety procedures
  • MetaDrone, which gathers information on solar panels, detects and fixes them, and generates reports in the virtual world
  • DEWA Onboarding, which allows new employees to learn about DEWA’s vision and mission through the DEWAVerse platform.

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority: Sharjahverse

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has launched Sharjahverse, a metaverse tourism platform with Multiverse Labs at GITEX 2022.

Using the Multiverse Labs platform, Sharjahverse encompasses all of Sharjah at 2,590 square kilometres (1,000 square miles),

According to the Sharjah authority, Sharjahverse not only brings the emirate to a global audience and boosts the tourism economy, but also creates metaverse jobs for local employees at Sharjah’s iconic sights. It is a photorealistic, physics-accurate metaverse that unlocks commerce, innovation and imagination at scale and promotes the emirate as a destination of excellence.
