ESET, global provider of endpoint security software, has reported it has achieved the best performance score among six major business security suits tested in the latest AV-Comparatives Network Performance Test commissioned by ESET.
AV-Comparatives, an independent organisation specializing in systematic testing of Endpoint Security solutions compared resource utilization and management by six endpoint security solutions testing their impact on valuable business resources such as network traffic and machine load (CPU and RAM).
“ESET is well known for being extremely light on system resources,” said Andreas Clementi, CEO at AV-Comparatives. “The results of this recent test only validate that ESET business products deliver what they promise – protection with no load on network systems.”
Among the solutions tested, which included Symantec, Trend Micro, McAfee, Kaspersky and Sophos, ESET Endpoint Security recorded the lowest combined idle traffic rate by a considerable margin. With large idle traffic rates negatively impacting network performance, ESET Endpoint Security consumed only 0.2 MB – far lower than the 2500-plus MB created by the Sophos product. Large traffic has the potential to negatively impact network performance.
ESET also achieved the optimum rating in an additional test to determine the file size of client-side definitions, scoring 10 times smaller than the Symantec product which operates a virus definition file size of 700 MB.
“These tests yield a simple conclusion: If you are looking for an effective cloud augmented, proactive and intelligent multi-layered technology that doesn’t impact network and endpoint performance, ESET Endpoint Security is officially the best option in the market,” said Dimitris Raekos, general manager, ESET Middle East.
