Etisalat founding member Mohammed Saeed Al Mulla dies at 97

Al Mulla was chosen in 1965 to serve as the first board chairman of the Emirates Telecommunications Company (Etisalat), which was founded on August 30, 1976.

Mohammed Saeed Al Mulla, an Emirati businessman and former UAE minister, passed away on Thursday at the age of 97.

Al Mulla, who was born in Dubai’s Shindagha in 1926, was nominated to the first Cabinet by the late Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s first vice president and prime minister, and served as the Minister of State for Union and Gulf Affairs.

Etisalat said: “We bid farewell to His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Mulla, a figure of great influence in the development of the UAE. His influence on the national economy and his involvement in various industries, including telecommunications,” via Twitter.

In 1973, at the second Cabinet formation, Al Mull was chosen to serve as the Minister of Communications and Transportation. He lasted in his position until 1997, holding onto his ministerial responsibility until the third Cabinet change in 1977.
