Middle East cybersecurity, zero trust market tipped to reach $44 billion

GISEC Global 2023 will bring attention to the “never trust, always verify” IT infrastructure approach, which experts have described as the security framework of the future

In the coming years, Middle Eastern governments and businesses are expected to heavily invest in Zero Trust Access (ZTA) technology to defend against the constant threat of cyber-attacks, leading to a significant growth in the region’s cybersecurity market, which is predicted to more than double in value in the next five years.

At the upcoming GISEC Global Cybersecurity exhibition in Dubai next month, ZTA security, which uses a “never trust, always verify” approach to IT infrastructure design, is expected to be highly sought after in 2023 and beyond, as organisations look to protect their data and systems from ever-evolving cyber threats.

The widespread “work from anywhere” culture in the Middle East is causing companies to ramp up their efforts to secure their digital assets, driving the growth of the region’s cybersecurity market, which is estimated to grow from $20 billion in 2022 to $44.7 billion in 2027, with an annual growth rate of 17 percent.

The rising volume of IoT traffic, advancements in technology, and the modernisation of enterprises are also contributing to the demand for ZTA security solutions, with research company MarkNtel Advisors expecting the Middle East ZTA market to grow by 16 percent annually in the next five years.

Although the basic methods of cybercrime have remained the same, their sophistication has increased. Fortunately, IT security professionals and C-level executives will have a plethora of solutions to consider at the 11th edition of GISEC Global 2023, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 14-16 March and featuring over 400 exhibitors from 42 countries.

“The Zero Trust model addresses the Middle East’s growing concern of cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure, while providing a more comprehensive approach to security by requiring verification of all users and devices, regardless of location, and implementing strict access controls,” said Riju George, Group Director for GISEC at DWTC.

“The largest ever edition of GISEC Global in 2023 will deliver an unmatched ecosystem of the world’s premier cybersecurity players, helping governments and businesses address unprecedented security risks, while enhancing their opportunities to innovate and thrive in a constantly evolving digital economy.”

GISEC Global is organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), with the annual three-day event also comprising an extensive conference programme under the theme ‘Connecting minds, boosting cyber resilience’, with 13-tracks tackling the evolving cyber landscape and corresponding threats across multiple industries.

Household names such as tech titans Huawei and Microsoft will be out in full force at the annual three-day event, alongside headline ground-breaking infosec companies including Spire Solutions, CPX, Mandiant, Pentera, Cloudfare, Crowdstrike, Edgio, Secureworks, Synack, Threatlocker, and Votiro.
