At the LEAP 2023 event, Huawei Cloud announced plans to establish a cloud region in Saudi Arabia.

According to the company, the new cloud region will accelerate the nation’s digital economy and provide better and more secure cloud services to government entities, corporations, and individuals.

Huawei Cloud has reinforced this commitment by recently announcing a $400 million investment in the next five years to further drive digital transformation in the Kingdom.

This intensified focus stems from the understanding that cloud is the cornerstone of digital transformation and the driving force behind a rapidly evolving digital landscape. It provides the necessary building blocks for cutting-edge technologies such as AI, Big Data, IoT, Blockchain, and more.

To assist customers in their migration to the cloud and maximize their benefits from it, HUAWEI CLOUD advocates for an “Everything-as-a-Service” approach that includes Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Technology-as-a-Service, and Expertise-as-a-Service. This will ensure quick access to leading cloud technologies and support the company’s mission of unlocking the full potential of digital.

HUAWEI CLOUD has made significant investments in AI over the years and has introduced a number of leading AI products, including ModelArts – an AI development pipeline, large pre-trained Pangu models, digital human, and spatiotemporal computing services. ModelArts is a comprehensive platform that covers all stages of AI application development, including data processing, algorithm development, model training, model management, and model deployment.

The Pangu Drug Molecule Model, one of HUAWEI CLOUD’s large models, reduced the time for lead compound discovery from years to just one month and cut R&D costs by 70%.

The company also offers a DataArts data governance pipeline, a one-stop platform for data development and governance where big data and AI converge. It includes GaussDB, a cloud database service and data warehouse, and FusionInsight, an intelligent data lake solution, helping enterprises establish a strong data foundation and fully leverage their data.

HUAWEI CLOUD, with 29 regions and over 240 cloud services, currently serves over 170 countries.

This investment signifies the company’s commitment to advancing the adoption and implementation of cloud and AI technologies across all industries in Saudi Arabia, serving customers across a wide array of industries including government and public service, finance, telecom, utilities, Oil & Gas, transportation and more.
