10 tech jobs ChatGPT says it will replace in the UAE

With industry reports forecasting that 300 million jobs will be displaced globally as a direct consequence of the tug-of-war between humans and machines, scenarios wherein ChatGPT will replace jobs are increasingly likely

With the emergence of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence, there has been a surge in the availability of AI technology to the general public. People are using the platform for diverse purposes, such as writing tasks, creating fictitious movie plots, writing sermons and scripts, among others.

As ChatGPT technology advances, some have raised concerns about the possibility of AI replacing human workers. In fact, a recent study by Goldman Sachs revealed that the latest wave of AI solutions, resulting in platforms like ChatGPT, could replace up to 300 million full-time jobs globally.

Global tech experts and leaders have recently come together to call on the AI community to “pause” the development of AI solutions such as GPT-4. The experts, which include the likes of Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple and Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and Twitter, said that the AI race is going too rapidly that “no one – not even their creators – can understand, predict, or reliably control.”

ITP.net asked ChatGPT itself which tech jobs in the UAE it will replace. The AI model responded with the following:

  1. Data entry operators
  2. Quality assurance testers
  3. IT support technicians
  4. Help desk operators
  5. Content moderators
  6. Data analysts and data scientists
  7. Social media managers
  8. Web designers and developers for simpler websites
  9. Technical writers for simple documentation
  10. Basic software testing jobs

However, ChatGPT noted that as an AI model, it was not designed to replace any specific tech jobs or roles.

“Instead, my purpose is to assist and augment human workers in a variety of tasks related to natural language processing, such as answering questions, generating text, and language translation.”

When asked why people shouldn’t be afraid of ChatGPT replacing their jobs, it responded that it is only “a tool designed to assist humans in various tasks.”

It said: “While it is true that some jobs may become automated or enhanced by AI and machine learning technologies, it is important to recognise that AI is not intended to replace human workers, but rather to augment and assist them.”

It also noted that while AI can perform certain tasks more efficiently and accurately than humans, there are many tasks that it will not be capable replicating, especially tasks that require human creativity, judgment, and empathy, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service.

“AI is not capable of replicating the full range of human abilities and experiences, and it is unlikely to replace humans in many areas of work,” it said.
