Qatar deploys new AI cockpit, streamlines airport operations

The AI-powered Performance Cockpit platform is an intelligent digital solution designed to provide operational insights

Matar, the Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management, has implemented the Performance Cockpit platform to enhance airport systems and air traffic control.

The AI-powered Performance Cockpit platform is an intelligent digital solution designed to provide operational insights.

In line with the implementation, Matar collaborated with Aeroficial Intelligence, a company specialising in airport and air traffic management, to use their software across all airport operations at Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Doha International Airport (DIA).

“The partnership with Aeroficial Intelligence is testament to MATAR’s commitment to investing in technological advancements to maintain its operational excellence and offer solutions that will benefit our growth plans and stakeholders. This will allow us to enhance automation, predictability, awareness and performance,” said Ioannis Metsovitis, Senior Vice-President Operations, Matar.

Julian Jank, CEO of Aeroficial Intelligence, stated that their objective is to provide airport operations with the most intelligent analytics solutions in the world. “We are honoured to partner with such a renowned organisation as MATAR and its excellent reputation in the industry to deliver the best service and highest operational efficiency supported by the latest technology,” he said.

The Performance Cockpit leverage AI-powered technology to deliver a turnkey and off-the-shelf digital solution that relies completely on surveillance data. It measures various areas, such as air traffic operations and airfield movements, and provides performance metrics to support daily operational excellence, helping to reduce emissions, increase efficiency, and generate new insights.

The Performance Cockpit comprises multiple software modules that can be customised based on MATAR’s specific requirements, and it offers in-depth analysis and reporting to support decision-making. The software monitors real-time daily operations, including ground movements, runway activity, taxiways, and air traffic situations, for both DOH and DIA.
