Revealed: UAE ranked as most ‘technologically ready’ Arab nation

The UAE outperforms other Arab nations in terms of preparedness to embrace advanced technologies

The UAE has climbed up five spots and is now ranked as the leading Arab country and 37th out of 166 countries in the latest UN technology index.

The United Nations’ Technology and Innovation Report assesses countries’ preparedness to embrace advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on environmentally-friendly innovation.

The UAE’s significant ascent in the rankings in recent years reflects its dedication to advancing its industrial and technological capabilities in alignment with its sustainability goals.

Over the years, the nation’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) launched programmes that have paved the way for innovation, technological advancement, and the establishment of future green industries.

The UAE has also introduced national initiatives such as the Technology Transformation Program, Industrial Technology Transformation Index, and Operation 300 billion in line with its efforts to becoming a global hub for technology and innovation.

In addition, the MoIAT is actively promoting ways technology can facilitate sustainable industrial growth, combat climate change, and expedite decarbonisation.

“This report reflects the UAE’s position as a leader in developing and deploying new transformative technologies to boost efficiency, reduce emissions, and accelerate the energy transition. As a global hub for innovation and talent, we are pioneering cutting-edge technologies that not only support sustainable industrial development, but also contribute to decarbonising other economic sectors,” said Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology.

“The UAE’s robust ranking in this global index reflects the country’s efforts to expand its industrial and technological capabilities in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology,” said Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology.

The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy highlighted that the UAE’s digital economy is expected to grow to more than $140 billion in 2031, up from nearly $38 billion at present.
