Elon Musk announces new Twitter CEO

Elon Musk did not name any potential candidates but reports suggest that it will be Linda Yaccarino, NBC Universal’s head of advertising

Elon Musk has stepped down as the CEO of Twitter and announced via a tweet that he has hired a new chief executive to lead the social media platform.

Although he did not reveal the woman’s identity, he stated that she will begin her new role in approximately six weeks.

Elon Musk has announced that he will take on the role of executive chair and chief technology officer of Twitter, where he will oversee product, software, and sysops.

This move is expected to alleviate concerns from Tesla investors who have been worried about Musk’s focus on turning around the social media platform, as he also leads SpaceX. Tesla Inc’s shares surged by 2.4% after the news was released.

In November, Musk had stated his intention to reduce his time at Twitter and find a new leader for the company.

Who is the new Twitter CEO?

Musk did not name any potential candidates in the past, he has now found a replacement, who will start in six weeks.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the person in question is Linda Yaccarino, who currently serves as NBC Universal’s head of advertising. Yaccarino recently participated in a session with Musk at the ‘Possible’ advertising conference in Miami.

The WSJ report described Yaccarino as the chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCU, where she has worked for over ten years. She is known for being an industry advocate for better advertising effectiveness measurement and played a crucial role in the launch of NBCU’s ad-supported Peacock streaming service as head of advertising sales.
