UAE-based Chat-GPT powered edtech platform hits one million users

UAE-developed School Hack offers two products, the student-focused School Hack app – available on Apple and Android – and the SHP 2.0 platform focused on educators as well as students

School Hack, an edtech platform powered by Chat-GPT and based in the UAE, has achieved a significant milestone by reaching one million users.

Founded in January 2023 and launched in February 2023 by Muhammed Khalid, School Hack’s user growth is comparable to some of the fastest-growing apps in history, such as Instagram and TikTok.

According to School Hack, it has surpassed all other apps in the world in terms of the volume of words processed through OpenAI’s Chat GPT, handling 150 million words daily and increasing.

School Hack offers two main products: the student-focused School Hack app, available on Apple and Android, and the SHP 2.0 platform, catering to both educators and students. SHP 2.0 introduces an interactive AI portal that represents a breakthrough in assisting schools in regulating and overseeing AI usage, ensuring students fully and responsibly harness its potential. It prepares students for the future workforce in the AI age and provides teachers with comprehensive visibility into students’ AI usage, preventing cheating and plagiarism.

The advanced AI detector ensures that students remain within the system and cannot exploit external AI platforms to bypass safeguards. These innovations have led Bloom World Academy to adopt School Hack’s SHP 2.0 platform across seven schools.

Development of the School Hack products began two years ago, anticipating the emergence of ChatGPT and other AI products by 18 months. This foresight has granted the app and portal a substantial advantage over a suite of AI products entering the market. Notable features of SHP 2.0 include “Smart Media,” revolutionising how students engage with videos, lectures, and podcasts by instantly converting them into text. Additionally, the “Ask me Anything” feature fosters curiosity and empowers students to take control of their learning journey, while “SmartDocs” transforms the way students interact with documents, providing a personalised learning experience. The Social Study Group within the app encourages collaborative learning and facilitates global connections.

Muhammed Khalid, CEO and Founder, emphasises the importance of equipping students with the right tools to understand and leverage AI as it disrupts education. Khalid’s passion for education and prior development of several edtech products, coupled with the integration potential he recognised in emerging AI tools, has provided School Hack with a higher level of sophistication compared to other AI-powered apps. This advantage is reflected in the overwhelmingly positive feedback and the record-breaking user growth experienced by the platform.

The launch of SHP 2.0 and its successful implementation at academic institutions like The University of Ontario Institute of Technology showcases the UAE’s commitment to driving progress and innovation globally.

“This revolutionary AI tool, developed in the UAE, showcases our country’s transformation from a technology consumer to a key player in the global tech industry – an exportation of cutting-edge technology that will leave a lasting impact on education and innovation,” said Khalid.

As a testament to their achievements, the School Hack founders were recently invited to speak at an exclusive event in San Diego by GSV Ventures, a global edtech investment firm, whose founder was an early investor in Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat.
