Sheikh Hamdan launches Dubai Digital Cloud project

The Dubai Digital Cloud will be implemented by the Digital Dubai in collaboration with Microsoft and Moro Hub

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, has unveiled the Dubai Digital Cloud project aimed at establishing a dynamic and dependable digital infrastructure within the emirate.

At its core, the project comprises multiple digital clouds that offer unparalleled flexibility, operational efficiency, and an array of solutions ranging from private to public clouds. By involving various service providers in enhancing services and promoting competitiveness, government entities will benefit from a multitude of options.

During his recent visit to the Digital Dubai headquarters, Sheikh Hamdan formally launched the project. The Dubai Digital Cloud will be implemented by the Digital Dubai in collaboration with Microsoft and Moro Hub.

Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, will play a crucial role in delivering cloud services through its cutting-edge platform, Moro Cloud. By incorporating global best practices, Moro Hub aims to reduce IT infrastructure costs and facilitate digital transformation through emerging technologies and cloud services.

Microsoft and Digital Dubai will work hand in hand to support the project, leveraging the powerful Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform. They will provide dedicated platforms specifically tailored for government entities, ensuring the highest standards of security, governance, and compliance. Additionally, the collaboration will extend to a Digital Skills Program, further strengthening Dubai’s digital ecosystem.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasised Dubai’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in advanced technology, highlighting the emirate’s steadfast pursuit of digital transformation. The accelerated digital transformation agenda aims to enhance government operations, improve quality of life, and propel economic growth.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed his pride in partnering with Digital Dubai to offer cloud services to government entities in Dubai through the Moro Cloud service. This service adheres to the highest local and international security standards and is overseen by a team of highly qualified and internationally certified professionals.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, hailed the Dubai Digital Cloud project as a significant milestone in Dubai’s journey towards becoming a global model city. He praised the effective collaboration between the public and private sectors, which has proven vital in realising Dubai’s digital ambitions.

“The Dubai Digital Cloud project represents a practical application of our leadership’s vision to foster connectivity, integration, and a comprehensive digital government. This ensures agility, speed, security, and competitiveness, empowering government entities to provide integrated, proactive, round-the-clock services,” stated Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori.

Naim Yazbeck, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, emphasised the transformative potential of the cloud for public sector organisations. He highlighted its ability to enhance services, strengthen digital security, empower citizens, and unlock access to innovative solutions such as AI services. Microsoft is dedicated to providing best-in-class solutions through its advanced Azure cloud platform, ensuring security, reliability, and scalability for customers in Dubai and beyond.

As part of the Dubai Digital Cloud project, Digital Dubai will empower government entities with essential tools, knowledge, and best practices. It will also develop policies and security standards for service providers and government entities while authorising providers accordingly. Furthermore, Digital Dubai will support government entities in prioritising the transition to the Dubai Digital Cloud project and guide them in selecting authorised service providers based on their specific requirements and objectives.
