Elon Musk brings internet access to Kenya with SpaceX’s Starlink

The partnership with Karibu Connect will enable the deployment of Starlink’s technology to various sectors in rural Kenya

Elon Musk’s Starlink, the satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, has partnered with a Kenyan internet company to offer its services in Kenya. With over 1.5 million global subscribers, Starlink aims to transform internet connectivity worldwide and is now available for purchase in Kenya.

Starlink’s innovative satellite mesh network system provides high-speed, low-latency connectivity, bridging the digital divide between urban and rural areas. The partnership with Karibu Connect will enable the deployment of Starlink’s technology to various sectors in rural Kenya, including small businesses, telecommunications, education, tourism, and government organisations.

Karibu Connect plans to offer both fixed and mobile Starlink enterprise services, including vehicle-mounted solutions for on-the-go and maritime applications. This collaboration is a significant step towards delivering affordable and high-quality internet access across Kenya, driving economic growth and societal progress.

In addition to Kenya, Starlink has expanded its services to Nigeria, Rwanda, and Mozambique, with several other countries on a waiting list. However, it has not yet received official licensing in South Africa.
