MoIAT requires businesses, customers to access digital services via UAE Pass

Beginning August 15, 2023, customers of MoIAT will need to have registered for the UAE Pass in order to avail themselves of the ministry’s services

Individuals and businesses accessing the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s (MoIAT) services online and on their smartphones can now use the UAE Pass.

The move aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts in digital transformation and is fully in accordance with the goals set forth in the ‘We the UAE 2031’ initiative and the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology.

Beginning August 15, 2023, customers of MoIAT will need to have registered for the UAE Pass in order to avail themselves of the ministry’s services. These services encompass various aspects such as specification, conformity, and accreditation services. This move is closely aligned with the ministry’s overarching strategic objectives, aimed at delivering administrative services that are in congruence with global best practices, as well as adhering to the Principles of the 50 and the targets set for UAE Centennial 2071.

Hamid Hassan Al Shamsi, who serves as the Director of the Customer Happiness Department at MoIAT, remarked on the positive reception of UAE Pass by users. During the trial phase, a notable 3,795 users participated, with a cumulative total of 12,756 registered users now accessing the ministry’s services.

Al Shamsi further emphasised that the integration of the digital identity solution with the ministry’s online services underscores MoIAT’s commitment to ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience for its customers. This integration is congruent with the ministry’s broader endeavours to contribute to the UAE government’s vision of digital transformation and to elevate customer experiences through cohesive integration. The introduction of a two-week trial phase reflects the ongoing commitment to engage customers in enhancing the quality of the ministry’s services.

“The ministry is committed to aligning with government directives,” said Al Shamsi. “Adopting the UAE Pass will enable documents to be signed and verified digitally, without the need to visit service centres. Since the beginning of July, the ministry has issued circulars, information, and guidelines in both Arabic and English to companies and customers, detailing the registration process.”

He added, “UAE Pass reduces the number of required fields to be filled on the ministry’s portal. Through digital identity solutions, customers can autocomplete forms and easily upload documents. We have provided MoIAT customers with a comprehensive guide on linking their accounts using the application to help them easily register and navigate procedures.”

To facilitate the registration process, MoIAT customers can download the UAE Pass app on iTunes and Google Play for smartphones. The registration protocol mandates a valid Emirates ID, verification of mobile phone number and email address details, and the creation of a password, granting access to an array of government services.
