Open AI’s ChatGPT can now see, talk and listen to users

These features will be rolled out in the next two weeks

OpenAI is introducing a significant update to ChatGPT, enabling the widely popular chatbot to engage in voice conversations with users and interact using images. This advancement brings ChatGPT closer in functionality to established AI assistants.

New voice feature of ChatGPT

OpenAI stated in a recent blog post that the voice feature will have wide-ranging applications, particularly in fostering creativity and improving accessibility. This update allows ChatGPT to go beyond text-based interactions and offer voice-based conversations, making it more versatile.

Since its initial launch, ChatGPT has found adoption in various industries, from summarising documents to generating computer code. This development has spurred competition among major tech companies to introduce their own generative AI-based solutions.

The new voice feature in ChatGPT expands its capabilities to narrate bedtime stories, vocalise text input from users etc. Additionally, the technology underlying this update is being utilised by Spotify to assist podcasters in translating their content into different languages.

Image support on ChatGPT

With the addition of image support, users can now capture images of their surroundings and ask ChatGPT to troubleshoot issues, plan meals based on fridge contents, or analyse complex graphs for work-related data. Google Lens, offered by Alphabet’s Google, is currently a popular choice for gathering information from images.

These new features will be rolled out to subscribers of ChatGPT’s Plus and Enterprise plans over the next two weeks.
