“We’ve seen a huge increase in the number of participants at GITEX GLOBAL – this is a testament to the UAE’s status as a global leader in technology,” says Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications

Dubai is set to become the epicenter of global technological innovation as it prepares to host the much-anticipated GITEX GLOBAL 2023 and Expand North Star events. These two simultaneous events will redefine the landscape of AI and technology on a global scale, bringing together some of the world’s brightest minds, governments, and innovative companies.

A new era of global AI dominance

Dubai will usher in a new era of global AI dominance as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) takes the lead in hosting the world’s largest tech and start-up show. This event is poised to redefine the boundaries of the AI economy and shape the future of the next major technological shift worldwide.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, emphasised the collaborative efforts with AI policymakers to create a better world for everyone. He noted, “GITEX GLOBAL is where the best and brightest minds come together to shape the future of technology. Dubai is a global market, and through GITEX GLOBAL, we are pushing the envelope by showcasing new technologies, including the transformational power of AI to inspire everyone and shape a better future.”

Two mega venues, one vision

For the first time ever, GITEX GLOBAL – independently rated globally as the best tech show – will take place in two mega venues. The 43rd edition of GITEX GLOBAL is expected to welcome 6,000 exhibitors and 180,000 tech executives from 180 countries from October 16th to 20th, 2023, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

At the same time, Expand North Star, hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, will be held from October 15th to 18th, 2023, at the stunning new Dubai Harbour venue. This marks a significant expansion, with a 40 percent increase in exhibition space from the previous year, providing a platform for dialogue and exploration of AI, the cloud, Web 3.0, and a sustainable digital economy.

VC investment revival and economic growth

Expand North Star 2023 is set to host the largest gathering of 1,000 investors from 70 countries with a total of $1 trillion under management. This influx of global interest comes as UAE companies secured a significant share of the $4 billion in start-up funding across the Middle East and North Africa in 2022.

Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, said, “Expand North Star reflects Dubai’s strong commitment to enabling ambitious start-ups to thrive in the emirate.” The event will introduce various initiatives, including India Central, Asia Fast 100, and Africa Fast 100, aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation in the global start-up ecosystem.

Innovation, government commitment, and AI ethical conversations

GITEX GLOBAL 2023 will see a substantial increase in public-private partnerships, with more than 250 government entities intensifying their futuristic digital city visions. The event will delve into the core themes of the AI era, including the ethics, security, and innovation aspects of AI technology.

Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of Events Management at Dubai World Trade Centre, said, “GITEX GLOBAL is synonymous with AI this year, especially when excitement over the emergence of generative AI is shadowed by a sense of trepidation.” The event promises to expand the ethical conversation surrounding AI and commercial exploration into new dimensions.
