Saudi Space Agency has tied up with Northstar to push space industry growth

The Saudi Space Agency has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NorthStar to propel the space industry.

The Saudi Space Agency has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NorthStar, aimed to propel the growth of Saudi’s space industry. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the Space Debris Conference in Riyadh on Sunday.

The agreement signed by Saudi Space Agency CEO Dr. Mohammed Al-Tamimi and NorthStar CEO Stewart Bain allows Saudi Space Agency to build a collaborative relationship in the field of space situational awareness technologies with NorthStar. The latter is a global company in the tracking and monitoring group of space objects.

Both the parties aim to enhance their collaboration in the exploration and evaluation of different opportunities in the future. With this agreement, there is a push towards development of research, capabilities and look at opportunities to build a centre of excellence specialised in space situational awareness.

The agreement will also focus on management of space traffic, and also an emphasis on research and exploration in space sustainability, sensor technologies like radar, radio frequency devices, and optical, and space environment. It also aims to explore the advanced data analytics capabilities.
