PM Narendra Modi on Dubai emerging as a tech hub, at WGS

The Prime Minister of the Republic of India, addressed the World Government Summit (WGS) in Dubai, during his two-day visit to the UAE. The visit has been marked with renewed trade relations between India and the UAE, and signing of several deals like linking digital payment platforms, port infrastructure development, and intergovernmental framework on an India-Middle East Corridor.

During his address at WGS, PM Modi said, “The way Dubai is emerging as an epicentre of global economy, commerce, and technology, represents a splendid example before the globe.” While highlighting the importance of technology, Modi went on to say that the world today needs governments that are inclusive.

He said there is a need for governments that are smart and are leaders in innovation and technology. PM Modi however, during his two-day UAE visit has also warned people on the misuse of technology and emphasised that it needs to be used as a means towards development and not destruction. Hailing the use of technology by the Dubai Government, he said the desert has been transformed and it is an example for the world.
