Saudi Arabia at Science20 focussed on AI and energy

The kingdom emphasised for global leadership in the fields of AI and bioeconomy at Science20.

Saudi Arabia was represented by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) at the inaugural meeting of the Science20 Group (S20), in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. The G20 initiative focussed on science for global transformation. The kingdom aims for global leadership in the fields of AI and bioeconomy.

The delegation emphasised Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the AI and data sector. It also highlighted the establishment of a legal framework aligning with international standards promoting responsible development and application of AI to enhance human capabilities.

The KACST delegation added that in the bioeconomy field the kingdom commits to economic sustainability and diversification. It also detailed significant investments in the sector. The kingdom aims for global leadership in the fields of AI and bioeconomy.

The kingdom’s National Biotechnology Strategy focusses on environmental protection, improving public health, economic opportunities, food and water security, and localising promising bio-industries among others.

The kingdom also highlighted Saudi Genome programme as an initiative addressing multiple health challenges. The Genome programme leverages big data for advance precision medicine, and also promotes digital health solutions. All working towards reducing the burden of hereditary and genetic diseases.
