GITEX Africa 2024: 700 startups displaying the future of technology

GITEX Africa’s impact on the continent’s digital landscape is profound, with groundbreaking announcements and technological showcases paving the way for future growth.

With over 1,400 companies and more than 700 startups from Morocco and other parts of Africa, the exhibition showcases cutting-edge technology, FinTech innovations, and advancements in healthcare.

The startups are at the heart of GITEX Africa, with more than 200 from Morocco and 300 from the rest of Africa. These 600 African startups are showcasing their innovative solutions and engaging in competitions and discussions with venture capitalists, highlighting the event’s focus on fostering innovation and supporting the digital economy in Africa.

The success of the second edition of GITEX Africa was evident from the high number of visitors and the positive feedback from customers. Significant announcements were made, particularly regarding investments in cloud infrastructure by major players such as Oracle and AWS. These investments, supported by the Moroccan government, are pivotal for the region’s technological advancement.

Additionally, the inauguration of new initiatives in collaboration with the Ministry of Health highlighted the event’s impact. “The good thing is Oracle’s big announcement on their investment in cloud infrastructure here in Morocco,” Achour said. It was also followed by similar announcements from AWS and other major players, marking significant strides in our digital economy.”

The anticipation for the third edition of GITEX Africa is already building, with expectations of even more exhibitors and topics. Achour expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We look forward to welcoming more companies and discussing more subjects that will contribute to the development of the digital economy in Africa.”

GITEX Africa’s ultimate goal is to contribute to developing the digital economy across the continent. By attracting major companies and fostering the growth of AI and 5G technologies, the event aims to drive innovation and help Africa leapfrog into a digitally advanced future.
