Rohit Garg is the Head of Business Banking and NeoBiz at Mashreq, which is one of the oldest and largest private banks in the UAE.

With over 24 years of experience in the banking and finance industry, Garg has worked with top banks in South Asia, Middle East and Africa and is adept across all aspects of Commercial, SME and Retail banking.

Garg will participate in ITP.net’s ‘Cashing-in on Digitalisation in Banking’ event as part of the ‘Doubling down on digital’ roundtable, where he will join a high-level panel of banking, finance and technology leaders.

The event, which is set to air on 9th February, will explore the evolution of the regional banking industry and determine what its future will look like.

NeoBiz is the first digital banking proposition in the country that offers customised and specifically tailored digital offerings for SME’s including start-ups and young businesses in the UAE.

SMEs represent over 60% of the country’s gross domestic product, according to the UAE Banks Federation. However, almost two-thirds (65%) of them stated that among the biggest obstacles they face when setting up a business is banking, according to a study by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Opening an account can take up to 90 days, requiring a lot of time, effort and multiple visits to the bank which can be frustrating.

With the motto ‘Built for business’, NeoBiz offers convenient and contemporary platform for businesses. It offers key services including digital onboarding, transparent and simplified products, digital assistant and full transaction capability online. In addition, it offers value added services with single application and preferred pricing.

Prior to joining Mashreq, Rohit held senior positions including the Regional Head of SME and Business Banking for Africa and UAE at Barclays Bank and the National Head of SME liabilities at Standard Chartered in India.

As part of the ‘Cashing-in on Digitalisation in Banking’ event, ITP.net will also feature a bespoke webinar on ‘Enabling a cashless society’.
