Eaton has announced its next generation, scalable central power system for medium to large buildings.

According to the company, reengineered to meet the needs of existing and known future regulation, Loadstar-S utilises its technologies in flexible switching to speed up planning, installation and commissioning.

“Emergency lighting is present in almost all buildings, which cannot be said for many other technologies, whether it’s exit sign luminaires or safety luminaires for illuminating escape routes and other particularly hazardous areas,” said Ashraf Yehia, managing director, Eaton Middle East.

“The challenge for modern emergency lighting systems is to safely network all functions of an emergency lighting system in order to process project-specific requirements across devices while minimising the cost of installation and set-up. Thanks to the new data networking capability of the Loadstar-S platform, we are very well placed.”

It’s easy to program and edit remotely, right down to luminaire level (remotely via) the Web enabled, cyber secure interface or via the intuitive GUI which is built into the color front panel display.

On installation, no additional luminaire data cable is required. Setup and maintenance are streamlined via the innovative ACU Bus, removing the need for duplicate wiring and modules to control Eaton luminaires across multiple systems, the auto-search and the optional battery block monitoring with wireless sensors, reduce labour time and the associated costs.

A host of automatic fault detection and monitoring solutions are available including battery string and optional battery block monitoring, with detailed information on the status of each battery block, including temperature and overall battery health.

With the new Loadstar-S systems, consultants backed up by Eaton’s planning, installation and service options can design systems with confidence.

For building owners, with one eye on their duty of care and another on their budget, LoadStar-S provides a solution to ensure their costs are controlled while occupants have clear guidance on evacuating the building, improving safety for all.
