The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has opened the applications for startup pitches ahead of the upcoming Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX).

Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) Dubai, from 17th to 21st October, GITEX will be held under the theme: ‘Creating a Bolder Digital Future Together’.

NITDA’s applications portal is now open for candidates that offer technology-driven innovations around 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, cybersecurity, cloud and edge computing, blockchain and more.

Interested applicants can visit: https://bit.ly/nitda-gitex2021 to apply. The application process closes by midnight on July 16, 2021.

Entries will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of judges comprised of experts and industry leaders from the Nigerian technology startup space.

GITEX is the biggest tech event in the Middle East and Africa region. Every year, the event hosts more than 4,500 exhibitors, 400+ active investors and 150,000 trade visitors from 140 countries.

Since 2013, Nigeria has featured a strong delegation and country pavilion presence through NITDA. Over the years, the organisation has supported Nigerian startups by featuring over 50 startups at its GITEX Future Stars Pavilion. This year, NITDA aims to continue this commitment through its subsidiary, National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR).

This year’s edition of GITEX will feature staple programmes including GITEX Future Stars, Future Blockchain Summit, AI Everything and Marketing Mania among others. It will also see the debut of a new fintech programme called FinTech Surge.
