The accomplishments of the Middle East IT channel industry were celebrated last night at the the Conrad Hotel, Dubai, as Channel Middle East held the ninth edition of its annual awards.
The event, held alongside a gala dinner, attracted over 360 IT leaders from the vendor, distributor, reseller and retailer community across the Gulf region, where they were honoured for their stellar performances and dedication to the development of the regional channel over the last 12 months.
Twenty-three awards were presented and they recognised the companies, partner programmes and individuals that have done the most to build and improve the wellbeing of the regional IT channel sector.
Highlights of the awards included Hesham Tantawi, vice president at ASBIS Middle East, who because the first channel executive to receive the “Life Time Achievement Award”.
In the reseller categories, Nivan Tech DMCC won the SMB Reseller of the Year, while Gulf Business Machines lifted the Systems Integrator of the Year in a hotly contested category. Tecbuy was this year’s Power Retailer of the Year, while Al Jammaz Distribution took the gong for Value Added Distributor of the Year for KSA.
In the reader-voted categories, selected via online polling by the readers of Channel Middle East, Channel Arabic and ITP.net, D-Link Middle East won the Best Vendor Channel Programme for its D-Link Empower Partner Programme, with Mindware scooping Best Distributor Channel Programme for its Mindware Loyalty Channel Programme.
In another tightly contested category of Value-Added Distributor of the Year, Redington Value Distribution was the winner while the IT Distributor of the Year – Broadline Products was won by ASBIS Middle East.
Shams Hasan, enterprise marketing manager at Dell Middle East delivered the first keynote address and encouraged channel partners in the region to help and guide their end user customers across various vertical on the digital transformation journey.
