Hikvision’s journey in LED technology and sustainability

Hikvision offers a comprehensive LED product family designed for various applications

Hikvision, a pioneer in commercial display technology, has been dedicated to evolving its product portfolio to cater to diverse global markets. Richard Wu, Hikvision’s LED product manager, sheds light on the company’s journey in LED technology and its commitment to sustainability.

Can you provide an overview of Hikvision’s LED product family?

Hikvision offers a comprehensive LED product family designed for various applications. We provide indoor and outdoor displays, creative solutions, and versatile options like Chip on Board (COB), IMD, and SMD products. Our range also includes energy-efficient outdoor displays, rental displays, LED modules, and innovative solutions like transparent screens and flexible displays.

We entered the LED display market in 2015 with our first P1.2 fine-pitch LED display. This venture began in 2008 when we recognised the changing landscape in display technology. We invested heavily in R&D starting in 2013 as LED products promised enhanced visuals, seamless splicing, and cost efficiency.

How has Hikvision invested in R&D for the LED product line?

Our R&D team is committed to developing technologies for high-quality, sustainable LED products. We offer COB LED, Mini LED, and energy-efficient products to reduce environmental impact. Additionally, we’ve developed our LED control system, incorporating an Online Maintenance Platform for easy management.

We have an 8,000-square-metre production site dedicated to assembling, testing, and packaging our LED products. Over 90% of our baseline products are self-researched and self-produced, with a monthly production capacity of over five billion LED lamps. We’re introducing a new automated production line to enhance efficiency.

What sustainability technologies are embedded in Hikvision’s LED products?

Sustainability is central to our LED innovations. We use Flip-Chip COB technology to eliminate wire bonding, reducing energy consumption by up to 45%. Common cathode technology lowers energy consumption by up to 50% in outdoor displays. Our PixMaster engine optimises energy usage while maintaining image clarity. Aluminium Cabinets enhance heat dissipation, reducing the need for air conditioning.

How is the LED market evolving, and how will Hikvision respond to future trends?

Market research predicts significant growth in the overseas LED market, especially for small-pitch, outdoor, and rental LED products. We’ll continue to invest in R&D, integrate cutting-edge technology, and prioritise sustainability. We’re also exploring new channels and partnerships to expand our reach.

Currently, Hikvision operates in over 150 countries, collaborating with numerous partners. Our LED solutions have been deployed in various applications, from command centres to shopping malls and outdoor scenarios. We transformed a telecom tower in Salalah into a local attraction with giant LED screens and provided exceptional displays for Intersport stores in Athens.
