Inspired by its stunning architecture and innovative exhibits, Expo 2020 Dubai’s Terra – the Sustainability Pavilion is hitting the right notes with visitors.

‘Terra’ was launched at the end of January and has welcomed more than 50,000 visitors since then. It will be open to public as part of Pavilion Premiere until April 10. The official opening of Expo 2020 Dubai is scheduled for October 1 this year.

Features like an interactive walk through the roots of a forest and a journey into the depths of the ocean are just some of the highlights of the pavilion, which aims to inform visitors on the impact caused to the planet by their actions.

A staggering 96% of those surveyed said they were inspired to change their behaviour, from saving water to making a conscious effort to use less plastic, according to latest data from Expo 2020.

Expo 2020 was also planning to showcase two other pavilions – Alif (the Mobility Pavilion) and Mission Possible (the Opportunity Pavilion) – but visitors will now have to wait for the official opening to have a glimpse of these remarkable structures and their exhibits.

Mohamed AlAnsaari, Vice President, Communications, Expo 2020, said, “From the outset, our ambition for Expo 2020 has been to offer an exceptional – and meaningful – visitor experience. We have been truly humbled by the public’s response to the Expo Pavilions Premiere and Terra – the Sustainability Pavilion.

“We are continuing to see high levels of demand for the Terra sneak preview and with just under one month to go until the Expo Pavilions Premiere closes as planned on 10 April, we have made the decision to keep the surprise of the incredible Alif – the Mobility Pavilion and the inspiring Mission Possible – the Opportunity Pavilion for the opening of the Expo itself.”

Delivering a safe Pavilion Premiere in these times of the COVID-19 pandemic was a logistical challenge, but Rolando Martins, Chief Operations Officer, Expo 2020, said the visitors’ responses have been rewarding.

“Delivering a safe and seamless experience for every kind of visitor has always been our highest priority and the global health challenges of the last year have put this into even sharper focus,” said Martins.

“The Pavilions Premiere has enabled us to put our processes into practice. More than 650 Expo staff were involved as we have completed over 320 operational hours to date.”

Entry tickets for Pavilions Premiere is priced at AED25 and needs to be pre-booked through the Expo website.
