Drawing inspiration from how human beings see and hear things, Sony has launched its new Bravia XR range – what they call the world’s first cognitive intelligence TV.

The whole range of Sony Bravia XR TVs – comprising 23 different models, , including the Master Series Z9J 8K LED and A90J OLED as well as the A80J OLED, X95J and X90J 4K LED – are now available in the UAE.

The new Cognitive Process XR mimics human brain to deliver and immersive viewing experience. It is also a Google TV (Sony is the first manufacturer to incorporate it), and has been designed keeping the needs of avid gamers in mind.

Powered by the Cognitive Processor XR, the Bravia TVs use a completely new processing method that goes beyond conventional AI.

The new processor knows where that focal point is by dividing the screen into numerous zones and detecting where the ‘focal point’ is in the picture.

Cognitive Processor XR can also analyse sound position in the signal so the sound matches precisely with what’s on the screen. Given the position of the speakers and the woofers, which are placed right behind the screen unlike other TVs in which they are at the sides, it converts any sound to 3D surround sound, to deliver realism with an immersive soundscape.

The Bravia XR learns, analyses and understands unprecedented amounts of data and intelligently optimises every pixel, frame and scene for the most lifelike picture and sound.

Google TV on Bravia XR is an interface that puts together all the content from different streaming services, like Netflix, Amazon Prime and others. Instead of searching for content from different apps, Google TV mixes all the content together in one interface.

Sony TVs are well known for the ‘blackest’ black colours, but the Bravia XR range also has the ‘brightest’ bright, thus creating a contrast that results in stunning visuals. This has also helped in creating a TV that gamers would like, where they can still see enemies hiding in the darkest places in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

All Bravia XR TVs feature HDMI 2.1 and e-ARC compatibility, including 4K 120fps, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), supporting higher resolutions and frame rates that are ideal for high-level gaming.

The TVs are also voice-activated and work alongside Google Assistant to provide not just a smarter viewing experience, but also become a part of smart home. It can start your ACs, shut down the light and tell you what the weather is like outside based on voice commands.
