CDOs among the highest earners in the UAE tech industry: report

The UAE’s jobs market has enjoyed its strongest year in a decade, with higher-thananticipated demand across the public and private sectors

Chief Digital Officer (CDO) is the highest paying job role in the UAE’s technology industry, according to recruitment specialist Cooper Fitch’s annual salary guide and hiring insights report.

Cooper Fitch’s Salary Guide UAE 2023revealed that CDOs earn a maximum of $53,097 (AED 195,000) per month followed by Chief Information & Technology Officers who earn over $31, 000 (AED 115, 000) and Chief Information Security Officers who earn more than $25,000 (AED 95,000).

The report, which identifies key trends for the year, is developed as guide for jobseekers, hiring managers, and encloses salary benchmarks, insights and key positions across various sectors in the UAE.

The report also noted that 57 percent of companies expect to increase salaries with 45 percent of them up to five per cent, seven percent intend to hike by more than 10 percent. The study also found that five percent of firms are likely to boost wages between six to nine percent in 2023.

When asked about their salary-related plans for 2023, almost a quarter of respondents (23 percent) said they did not intend to make changes during the coming 12 months.

Overall, it is estimated that salaries will increase by just under two per cent in 2023.

Bonuses to come

Cooper Fitch also found that about three quarters of those surveyed intend to issue bonuses equivalent to one month’s gross salary, compared to just
26 percent that had no such plans.

One-fifth (20%) of those surveyed plan to pay two months’ gross salary, 10 percent said three months, three percent said four months, and one percent said five months.

“The UAE’s jobs market has enjoyed its strongest year in a decade, with higher than anticipated demand across the public and private sectors. This activity has been fueled in no small part by the healthy position in which the nation’s government finds itself, as well as its success in incentivising local and international funding for large projects,” said the report.
