Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy attracted 69 emerging tech companies to Dubai through partnerships with various government bodies. This aligns with the chamber’s commitment to advance the city’s digital economy and the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

Over the past six months, the chamber also organised 12 roadshows across different regions, connecting with 279 businesses including multinationals, SMEs, startups, and scale-ups. The aim was to highlight Dubai’s growth potential and business advantages. Additionally, these efforts aimed to encourage participation in the upcoming Expand North Star event, a major startup gathering scheduled for October.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, stated the commitment to realise Dubai’s vision as a global digital economy hub and emphasised the role of the private sector in sustainable economic growth. Lootah stressed the importance of achieving D33 objectives and solidifying Dubai’s reputation as an international tech destination.

“Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy plays a pivotal role in achieving the goals of the UAE’s Digital Economy Strategy and will continue to strive to build a diversified and flexible economy based on technology and digital knowledge,” said Lootah.

“Our projections indicate the national digital economy will grow significantly to reach a value of over $140 billion in 2031, bolstered by our plans to attract 300 digital startups to Dubai by 2024. We are continuing to work to unlock the full potential of the digital economy and propel Dubai into its ambitious future as a leading global hub for technology and innovation.”

The chamber introduced initiatives such as sector-specific digital economy workshops and comprehensive reports on the local startup and venture capital ecosystems. It also initiated the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ program, promoting digital entrepreneurship among Emirati youth.

The ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ program seeks to train 1,000 Emiratis to triple the number of app developers in Dubai by 2025. The initiative supports 100 new national app projects.

The chamber introduced a platform offering comprehensive services for tech startups, SMEs, and MNCs looking to establish or expand their business in Dubai. This ‘one-stop shop’ provides licensing, banking, office space, and cloud services. The chamber also formed partnerships with entities like Dubai CommerCity, Safexpay, e&, and Telr to support this initiative.

Furthermore, the chamber engaged in discussions with government bodies, hosted business delegations, facilitated bilateral meetings between investors and Palestinian startups, and is gearing up to host the Expand North Star event in October. This event will showcase growth opportunities within Dubai’s digital economy.
