Dubai real estate: New service revealed to help fight scam listings

The move is in line with Dubai Land Department’s efforts to modernise and enhance real estate governance procedures and to promote investor confidence

The Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), which operates under Dubai Land Department (DLD), has released a circular affirming the deployment of the new electronic service called Madmoun.

This service is accessible via the Trakheesi System and is represented by a QR Code that is generated for each real estate advertisement permit. DLD’s aim is to modernise and enhance real estate governance procedures and to promote investor confidence.

Effective from April 24th, all real estate companies must include the QR code on their print and audiovisual advertisements. This code permits customers to easily authenticate and verify the advertisement’s legitimacy and endorsement by RERA.

Moreover, customers can check the complete advertisement information, such as the advertising company’s details and the property’s specifications, on DLD’s website via the link. The data on the link is safeguarded to prevent any tampering.

Marwan bin Ghalita, CEO of RERA at DLD, stated that the service is in line with DLD’s strategy to establish Dubai as the world leader in real estate investments by utilizing technology to create real estate products in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership. Additionally, the service supports DLD’s objective of attaining the targets of the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33,’ which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to generate fresh economic value through digital transformation and to achieve his vision of solidifying Dubai’s position as a global hub of the digital economy and a key player in the global digital ecosystem.

“We are constantly keen on enhancing and ensuring transparency in the real estate sector,” he said.

“We will continue to empower the real estate community with proactive and streamlined real estate services and integrated data, based upon a pioneering digital infrastructure and qualified human cadres. This will help achieve sustainability in the development and growth of the real estate sector, keeping pace best-international practices and standards and positioning Dubai as a pioneering model in this field”.

DLD Customers can scan the QR code on each real estate advertisement to get a glimpse of the property’s authorised details and establish if it has been sold or rented.

Real estate companies can activate the QR code through the Trakheesi system. RERA confirms that real estate companies must adhere to this service to prevent them from being subject to any violation resulting.
