Eid Al-Fitr 2023: UAE announces 4-day holiday for private sector employees

Emiratis and expats who work in government offices and private businesses are entitled to the same set of holidays

The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has declared the official dates for the Eid Al Fitr holidays, during which residents may be granted up to four days off.

The holiday period encompasses the Islamic months of Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3.

The official holidays for both public and private sectors in the UAE have been unified, resulting in Emiratis and expats who work in government offices and private businesses being entitled to the same set of holidays.

Earlier today, UAE officially announced Eid Al Fitr 2023 holidays for the public sector. All federal employees will get a four-day weekend from April 20 to April 23, with work set to resume on April 24.

In a Twitter post, the MoHRE said: “The period from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, 1444 AH, and corresponding to the Gregorian date, will be a paid holiday for all workers in the private sector in the country on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.”

Earlier this week, it was announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that government employees would receive their salaries early in preparation for Eid Al Fitr 2023.

Following this occasion, Eid al Adha is expected to be celebrated on June 28th, 29th, and 30th, resulting in four consecutive public holidays from Tuesday 27th to Friday 30th of June.
