Google gives a sneak peek of its first foldable phone, the ‘Pixel Fold’

The Google Pixel Fold is set to launch on May 10 at the Google I/O event

Alphabet-owned company Google has announced the launch of its first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold.

In teaser clip, the company confirms that the phone’s design is consistent with the images that have been circulating over the past few months.

Google posted the video teaser on May 4 marking the day with the phrase ‘May the Fold be with you’. The Twitter handle Made by Google also announced that the device will be launched on May 10.

The latest video of the Pixel Fold is consistent with previously leaked images, and it is anticipated that Google will incorporate a strong hinge for the device based on the leaked specifications. The secondary screen is expected to be 5.80 inches when folded, while the primary screen could be as large as 7.60 inches. However, the primary display’s bezels appear to be quite thick.

The Google Pixel Fold is set to launch on May 10 at the Google I/O event, with a notify-me button available on the US Google Store landing page for users to receive updates about the foldable phone. However, Google has not yet revealed the markets where it will be launched.

Reports suggest that the Pixel Fold will feature a 5.8-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch foldable panel, and will be powered by the Google Tensor G2 processor. It is also expected to have a durable hinge, reportedly “the most durable hinge on a foldable.”

The phone’s price is estimated to be over $1,700, which is higher than the price of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4 at $1,799.
