In a recent interview, Mohammed Amin, Senior Vice President, CEEMETA, Dell Technologies, shared insights into the evolution of AI, its impact in the region and how the company is leveraging its promise

The five challenges that are shaping transformation

There are currently five pivotal challenges that are currently defining the technology landscape across the globe, according to Amin. These, encompass “Artificial Intelligence (AI), Edge Computing, Cybersecurity, Multi-Cloud adoption, and the human aspect of proliferating AI tech,” he said.

“These challenges serve as cornerstones that Dell Technologies is steadfastly committed to addressing, bolstering businesses and organisations in the region to adapt and flourish.

Amin emphasised the transformative potential of AI, particularly generative AI. He notes, “Generative AI is not just about making processes faster and smarter; it has the potential to create entirely new content.”

This innovation stands to revolutionise a multitude of industries such as education and healthcare. Amin’s conviction lies in generative AI’s capacity to reshape not just the ‘how’ of our operations but the ‘what’ we can achieve.

“We are actively engaging with our customers to ensure they comprehend this transformative journey and how it aligns with our infrastructure. Furthermore, within our ecosystem, we have numerous use cases and AI modules designed to provide invaluable assistance to our customers,” explained Amin.

Collaboration for a safer future with AI

Confronting concerns regarding the growth of AI and associated risks, Amin underscored the significance of collaborative efforts. He noted, “We are actively working with other technology players to ensure that AI and related technologies are harnessed safely and securely.”

Amin highlighted their active participation in “global security consortiums” and their commitment to educating customers about the “zero-trust concept in cybersecurity.” He firmly believes that this cooperative approach is paramount in building a secure digital future.

Driving innovation in the Middle East

Drawing inspiration from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai’s assertion that the UAE leads the region in innovation, Amin delved into the imperative of fostering a culture of innovation.

He noted, “Dell Technologies is actively seeking to attract innovative individuals with groundbreaking ideas to the region. For more than two decades, we have remained steadfast in our dedication to discerning the distinctive needs of our regional customers and providing them with bespoke solutions.”

For Amin and Dell Technologies, the ultimate goal lies in delivering solutions that not only spur growth but align seamlessly with the customer’s business objectives. He posited, “We believe in providing growth and business solutions, but our primary focus is the customer’s business.”

In the fiercely competitive modern world, understanding how technology solutions bolster a customer’s business is the linchpin to staying ahead, according to Amin.

He then pointed out that Dell Technologies’ demonstrates this commitment through an astute Research and Development (R&D) strategy. “We have invested $7.5 billion in R&D in the last three years, and we plan to maintain this level of investment in the coming years, especially in artificial intelligence,” said Amin.

He reiterated that, regardless of the ever-shifting economic and technological landscape, Dell Technologies remains steadfast in its quest to unearth efficient and effective solutions to meet its customers’ evolving needs.
