Fitbit announces the availability of its feature-rich Charge 5 in the UAE

It will come with 6-month Fitbit Premium subscription that helps understand if the body is ready for a workout, and many more add ons

Fitbit’s latest Charge 5, the company’s most advanced health and fitness tracker designed to help keep a pulse on fitness, stress, heart health, sleep and overall wellbeing, is now available in the UAE.

With a thinner, sleek design, Charge 5 has a brighter, color touchscreen and up to seven days of battery life (depending on use).

And, with six months of Fitbit Premium membership included, Charge 5 users will be assured of deeper insights, actionable guidance and a range of more than 500 workouts, plus mindfulness and nutritional content to empower them to do what’s best for their body each day. It will be available online and in-stores in the UAE for AED 799.

With Fitbit Premium’s new Daily Readiness experience, coming soon to Sense, Versa 3, Versa 2, Luxe and Inspire 2 devices as well, you can understand if your body is ready for a workout or if you should prioritise recovery instead. Each morning, you’ll receive a score based on your fitness fatigue (activity), heart rate variability (HRV) and recent sleep. You’ll also get an analysis of what impacted your score, and suggestions like a recommended target Active Zone Minutes goal, along with Premium content to help you make the best decisions for your body.

Charge 5 also includes built-in GPS, 20 exercise modes, automatic exercise recognition and an estimate of your V02 max. With Premium, more than 200 workouts from certified trainers and popular brands like Daily Burn, barre3, obé and new high energy workouts from LES MILLS can also be accessed.

During 2020, a record-high 40% of adults said they experienced a lot of stress. To help people better manage stress, Charge 5 is Fitbit’s first tracker to include an EDA sensor, which measures a body’s response to stress through tiny changes in the sweat glands on their fingers. Fitbit first launched EDA last fall with Fitbit Sense and have found 70% of users reduced their heart rate during a two-minute EDA Scan session.

The device also brings a Stress Management Score in the Fitbit app, which shows if a person is mentally ready to take on more challenges, or if he needs to recharge each morning. Premium also gets access to more than 300 meditation and mindfulness sessions from brands and experts, like Ten Percent Happier and Mindful Method by Deepak Chopra to help you manage your stress. Fitbit has also announced a partnership with Calm, the #1 App for Sleep, Meditation and Relaxation.

Charge 5 will track heart rate 24/7 and provides notifications when it is above or below personal ranges. While many factors can affect heart rate, a high or low heart rate may be an indication of a heart condition that requires medical attention.

The device also provides a holistic view of other key wellness metrics via the Health Metrics dashboard in the Fitbit app, including breathing rate, skin temperature variation and SpO2.4 With Premium, one is able to track long-term trends and personal ranges. And because sleep is also critical to your wellbeing, the user will continue to receive industry-leading sleep tools like daily Sleep Score, Sleep Stages and SmartWake alarms.

Beyond health and wellness support, Charge 5 delivers several convenience features. With the swipe of a finger, one can view stats, make contactless payments, receive/send notifications from/to smartphone (quick replies with Android only), and choose from 20 colorful clock faces to customise information one wants to see most.

Will Smith is Fitbit’s new brand ambassador

While curating additional new tools and features in Fitbit Premium for its consumer, Fitbit also announced partnering with Will Smith to join as Fitbit’s newest ambassador. As part of the strategic partnership, Fitbit and Will have teamed up to develop exclusive content within Premium, which will feature a variety of health and wellness programs that focus on both physical and mental aspects of strength that define better health today.
