Kuwait Military integrates Oracle health system, a $250 million project

The contract valued at $250 million encompasses planning, integration, implementation, and maintenance of the system for KMMC according to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

The Kuwait Military Medical Command (KMMC) on 14 February received approval to integrate Oracle’s healthcare Medical Information System, by the US State Department.

The contract valued at $250 million encompasses planning, integration, implementation, and maintenance of the system for KMMC according to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

“The Government of Kuwait has requested to buy planning, integration, implementation, and maintenance of a Medical Information System for its Kuwait Military Medical Command (KMMC),” the DSCA said in a statement.

Oracle subsidiary, Cerner Corporation, will provide the Health Information Systems information technology (IT) hardware and software, develop the IT infrastructure, and implement life-cycle management practices.

The contract, according to DSCA, will require up to 15 representatives to be present for seven years to provide systems planning, implementation, management, and oversight.

The US government said in the statement that the proposed sale will support US foreign policy and national security objectives by helping to improve the infrastructure of a Major Non-NATO ally that continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.

Furthermore, it added that the sale will improve Kuwait’s capability to provide greater health security for its KMMC infrastructure. Kuwait will use the enhanced capability to strengthen its medical services management and will have no difficulty absorbing this infrastructure, support, and associated services into its armed forces.
