Meta’s Threads tests post sharing on other social platforms

This move aligns with Meta’s earlier commitment to making Threads compatible with open and interoperable social networks

Meta Platforms’ Threads is initiating a test wherein posts from microblogging platform accounts will be accessible on Mastodon and other platforms utilising the ActivityPub protocol, as announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

This move aligns with Meta’s earlier commitment to making Threads compatible with open and interoperable social networks, a goal set during the app’s launch in July.

Zuckerberg highlighted the significance of this interoperability, stating, “Making Threads interoperable will give people more choice over how they interact, and it will help content reach more people.”

Mastodon, known for its decentralised and user-driven structure, shares similarities with Threads and serves as an alternative to Elon Musk’s social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter). Both Mastodon and Threads operate on the ActivityPub framework, enabling users to create independent social media experiences.
