The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) is set to gather regional and international manufacturers alongside key decision-makers in the energy industry at The Smart Manufacturing Conference to drive the development of smart manufacturing systems that can boost efficiency and decarbonisation.

The Conference will run at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), which takes place from 15-18 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).

The Ministry will highlight the competitive advantages of the UAE’s industrial sector and highlight the investment opportunities available in the country. MoIAT also aims to enhance the ability of national companies in the industrial sector to build partnerships that contribute to the transfer of expertise and knowledge and access to global markets.

As well as helping to consolidate efforts in smart manufacturing systems, the conference will discuss strategies and policies developed to drive industrial growth and interlink manufacturing, energy, and Operation 300bn, which aims to position the UAE as a global hub for industries of the future. The conference will also explore how the internet of things (IoT) can support supply chain logistics.

Global issues

Her Excellency Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Technology, underlined that ADIPEC is an international platform for presenting solutions to the most prominent issues facing governments today. These solutions include 4IR applications, the development of energy sources and the use of advanced technology to increase industrial production, improve its quality, and support a global economic recovery based on innovation and sustainability.

Operation 300bn

His Excellency Omar Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, noted that the oil and gas sector is closely linked to Operation 300bn, which is implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with federal and local government entities and the private sector. The petrochemical industry is a priority within the strategy, alongside clean energy, such as hydrogen, for which the UAE seeks to be a global leader in its production and export.

Make it in the Emirates

The conference will feature contributions from senior officials, experts, investors, government and private entities around the world, offering an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss investment opportunities, and present the advantages offered by the UAE to industrial investors and talents.

In a session titled ‘Make it in the Emirates – Shaping Industrial Growth and Advancing Economic Development’, Al Suwaidi will highlight the role of the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ campaign in implementing the goals of Operation 300bn. The strategy aims to achieve a qualitative leap that enhances the country’s position as a global center for future industries, stimulates innovation and adopts advanced technology and the solutions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
