OutSystems has unveiled a next generation application platform that enables development teams to build state-of-the-art cloud applications.

The next generation

Over 14 million people use apps created on the OutSystems platform. The platform allows users to build mobile apps and consumer websites, workgroup apps and extensions of other systems including Microsoft, SAP, and Salesforce. The new platform, codenamed Project Neo, delivers the next level of application scale and developer productivity that organisations need to compete in a cloud-first world.

The next generation application platform combines the productivity benefits of visual, model-based development with a state-of-the-art container- and Kubernetes-based cloud architecture, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), so any company can build custom cloud apps capable of global-scale and continuous change.

Key features

OutSystems enables teams to move their legacy applications to the cloud, build new applications, or follow digital transformation initiatives that impact every corner of their organisation and allowing their company to fully digitise. Project Neo does this by:

  • Automating DevOps processes, managing an advanced cloud runtime, resolving code dependencies, performing regression testing, enforcing architecture standards, continuously adding new platform features, and keeping the entire system updated.
  • Enabling developers to make critical changes to applications within hours, including multiple critical changes each day without increasing technical debt.
  • Ensuring all cloud applications are always on and state-of-the-art and that the system is automatically updated with the latest cloud technologies without impacting apps already in production.
  • Allowing developers to build with confidence, knowing that apps can scale to hundreds of millions of users as organisations and application usage grows.
  • Keeping development organisations running at peak productivity and performance, enabling hundreds of developers to work simultaneously and continuously update portfolios of applications.

Project Neo is now available for public preview ahead of its official launch in 2022.
