Twitter threatens Threads with a lawsuit

Twitter has issued a threat to sue Meta Platforms over its newly launched Threads platform

Twitter, the social media platform, has issued a threat to take legal action against Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, over its recently launched Threads platform. In a letter addressed to Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, accused Meta of hiring former Twitter employees who allegedly had access to Twitter’s trade secrets and highly confidential information.

The letter, which was confirmed by a source familiar with its contents, demanded that Meta immediately cease using any Twitter trade secrets and take steps to prevent the unauthorised use of confidential information.

In response to the allegations, a spokesperson for Meta denied the claims made by Twitter. The spokesperson stated that none of the engineers working on the Threads platform were former Twitter employees and dismissed the notion that Meta had access to any Twitter trade secrets or highly confidential information.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who also happens to be the owner of Twitter, responded to the news by expressing his opinion on competition and cheating. Musk tweeted, “Competition is fine, cheating is not,” in reference to the situation between Twitter and Meta.
