Yahsat Government Solutions, has been awarded a substantial mandate by the UAE government worth 18.7 billion dirhams

Abu Dhabi’s Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) announced on that its government services division, Yahsat Government Solutions, has been awarded a substantial mandate by the UAE government worth 18.7 billion dirhams ($5.1 billion). This mandate spans 17 years and encompasses the provision of satellite capacity and managed services.

Yahsat’s secure and reliable satellite capacity

This comprehensive authorisation combines various services, including operations, maintenance, and technology management for ground segment satellite systems and terminals. Previously, these services were provided under separate contracts, as reported in a regulatory filing to the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX).

Ali Al Hashemi, Group CEO, expressed the company’s financial strength, stating, “Our financial position has never been stronger and we now enjoy a contracted revenue backlog of AED 25.7 billion or over 16 times annual revenues based on backlog figures at the end of the second quarter.”

The award includes an advance payment of $1 billion from the government, which is scheduled to be received in 2024.

Under this newly secured mandate, Yahsat will deliver secure and reliable satellite capacity and related managed services to the Government. They will utilise the Al Yah 1 and Al Yah 2 satellites, currently in orbit, and expand their capabilities with the addition of two new satellites, Al Yah 4 and Al Yah 5. These new satellites are slated for launch in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
