Video and voice calling app GoChat Messenger is launched by etisalat by e&

A new video and voice calling service called GoChat Messenger has been launched in the UAE. The new service from Etisalat UAE, branded as etisalat by e&, is a free app that will also allow users to transfer money, pay bills, play games and stay updated with latest news and events.

A statement from the company said that the Covid-19 pandemic led to an uptick in the use of new voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP). But even before the pandemic, the services have been widely popular.

The VoIP GoChat Messenger is a global application that can be downloaded by anyone in the world, only requiring a mobile number for registration, connecting the UAE population with friends and family across the globe and can be downloaded via Android and iOS app stores.

The launch follows e&’s recent unveiling of “etisalat by e&” as the new brand identity for Etisalat UAE, in line with the Group’s positioning as the global technology and investment conglomerate that digitally empowers people and societies.

The previously launched VoIP licensed in the UAE is Botim, which customers of du, e& and Virgin can access, but they must pay to use.

Etisalat will continue to offer other alternative internet calling platforms, including Botim, C’Me and HiU, in the UAE, its website said.
