In a groundbreaking trial, Fakeeh University Hospital successfully utilised drone technology to deliver medication to a patient’s doorstep, marking the first-ever medical delivery of its kind in the Middle East.
This remarkable achievement is in line with Fakeeh University Hospital’s commitment to contributing to the visionary objectives of the “Dubai Programme to Enable Drone Transportation.” Launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, this initiative aims to enhance transportation efficiency by harnessing the potential of drones.
The trial, conducted within a 10km radius, saw medication transported from the hospital to a patient’s home in Cedre Villas. Dr. Juma Al Matrooshi, Director General of Dubai Silicon Oasis, emphasised the importance of supporting innovative technology solutions and expressed his excitement about the successful pilot.
He stated, “We are keen on providing a conducive environment and the required support for companies to run their trials, understand the circumstances, and complete their offerings. We congratulate Fakeeh University Hospital on a well-concluded pilot, and we look forward to seeing this initiative rolled out at DSO.”
