In adherence to the visionary directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, unveiled the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (AI), marking a pivotal moment in Dubai’s journey towards global leadership in AI adoption.
The Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence is a comprehensive strategy aimed at accelerating the integration of AI applications across diverse sectors, positioning Dubai as a trailblazer in embracing transformative technologies.
Highlighting the significance of this initiative, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan emphasised its role in propelling Dubai towards its ambitious economic goals. The blueprint is projected to inject AED100 billion annually into Dubai’s digital economy, driving a 50 per cent increase in productivity through the implementation of innovative digital solutions, in alignment with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 targets.
Reflecting on Dubai’s pioneering spirit in digital transformation, Sheikh Hamdan underscored the city’s remarkable evolution since embarking on its digital journey in 1999. He noted the recent unveiling of the Dubai Digital Strategy as a testament to Dubai’s unwavering commitment to innovation, solidifying its position as a global powerhouse in the technology and AI sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised the imperative of agility in the face of rapid technological advancements, citing the accelerated evolution of AI and its profound impact on nations and governments worldwide.
“To ensure Dubai’s sustained prosperity, we must swiftly adapt to the evolving landscape of AI,” Sheikh Hamdan stated. “Our annual plan outlines strategic initiatives aimed at fostering a thriving ecosystem for AI innovation, while prioritising the well-being of our citizens and residents.”
Key components of the annual plan include the appointment of Chief Artificial Intelligence Officers in government entities, the establishment of AI and Web3 incubators, and the introduction of an AI Week in educational institutions. Additionally, measures such as expediting land allocation for data centres and introducing a new commercial license for AI aim to bolster Dubai’s infrastructure and attract global talent.
The plan’s overarching goal is to cultivate an environment conducive to economic growth, technological innovation, and social well-being. By harnessing AI’s transformative power, Dubai endeavours to emerge as a beacon of progress and prosperity on the global stage.
